Corrections, Retractions & Appeals Policy

The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and Therapeutics (JMCT) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. When significant errors, ethical concerns, or publication misconduct are identified before or after publication, the journal will take appropriate editorial action in a fair, transparent, and timely manner.

1. Corrections

If a published article contains errors that do not invalidate its scientific findings but require clarification or correction, JMCT may publish a formal correction. Corrections are linked to the original article to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

2. Retractions

A published article may be retracted when there is clear evidence that its findings are unreliable due to research misconduct, major errors, plagiarism, duplicate or redundant publication, unethical research practices, data fabrication or falsification, inappropriate image or data manipulation, or other serious violations of publication ethics.

Retraction notices will remain permanently linked to the original article and will clearly indicate the reason for the retraction while preserving the integrity and transparency of the published scholarly record.

3. Expressions of Concern

Where a serious concern has been raised regarding the reliability, integrity, or ethical status of a published article, but an investigation is ongoing or inconclusive, JMCT may publish an Expression of Concern to inform readers while the matter is being investigated or resolved.

4. Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written explanation together with clear scientific justification and relevant supporting evidence. Appeals should address the specific reasons for disagreement with the editorial decision and should not simply repeat arguments already considered during the initial assessment.

Appeals are reviewed independently by the Editor-in-Chief or another qualified editor who was not directly involved in the original decision, where reasonably possible. The outcome of the appeal will be communicated to the corresponding author after careful evaluation. An appeal does not guarantee reversal of the original decision or acceptance of the manuscript.

5. Complaints

The journal welcomes complaints regarding editorial processes, peer review, publication ethics, authorship, conflicts of interest, research integrity, or other journal-related matters. All complaints will be handled confidentially, impartially, and in accordance with the journal's established procedures.

Where necessary, the Editorial Office may seek additional information from authors, reviewers, editors, institutions, or other relevant parties to ensure that complaints are evaluated fairly and appropriately.

6. Post-Publication Updates

Where appropriate, published articles may be updated with corrections, editorial notes, Expressions of Concern, retractions, or other relevant notices to ensure that readers have access to accurate and reliable scientific information.

For articles involving medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, pharmacology, therapeutics, or computational research, post-publication updates may be issued when newly identified errors or concerns materially affect the interpretation, reproducibility, or reliability of the published work.

7. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure continued alignment with developments in scholarly publishing, research integrity, publication ethics, and international best practices. The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and Therapeutics reserves the right to revise or update this policy when necessary. Updated versions become effective upon publication on the journal website unless otherwise stated.
