Authorship & Conflict of Interest Policy

The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and Therapeutics (JMCT) promotes transparency in authorship and disclosure of competing interests. All listed authors must have made substantial scholarly contributions to the work and must disclose any relationships that could influence, or reasonably appear to influence, the design, conduct, interpretation, or reporting of the research.

1. Authorship Criteria

Authors should have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study, acquisition or generation of data, experimental or computational analysis, interpretation of results, manuscript drafting, or critical revision. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and accept responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of their contributions.

2. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the Editorial Office, coordinating the submission process, confirming that all listed authors have approved the manuscript, managing revisions, responding to editorial queries, and coordinating post-publication correspondence when necessary.

3. Author Contributions

JMCT encourages authors to clearly describe the contribution of each author. The use of the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) is recommended whenever appropriate. Contributions may include conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, computational analysis, visualization, writing, supervision, project administration, and funding acquisition, as applicable to the study.

4. Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be supported by written agreement from all authors together with a clear explanation for the requested change. Such requests are subject to editorial approval and may require additional documentation before a decision is made.

5. Acknowledgements

Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately with their permission. Acknowledgements may include technical assistance, laboratory support, computational assistance, administrative support, or other contributions that do not qualify for authorship.

6. Conflict of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose all financial, institutional, professional, personal, or other relationships that could influence, or reasonably appear to influence, the research or editorial process.

Potential competing interests may include financial relationships, consultancy, commercial interests, intellectual-property interests, institutional relationships, personal relationships, or other circumstances relevant to the research or its interpretation.

7. Funding Disclosure

All financial support for the research should be disclosed, including funding agencies, grant numbers, institutional support, or other sources of financial assistance where applicable. Authors should also disclose the role of the funding organization in study design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, or the decision to submit the work for publication.

If no specific external funding was received, authors should clearly state this in the manuscript using an appropriate funding statement.

8. Editorial Management of Conflicts

Editors and reviewers with actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest must recuse themselves from handling or evaluating the manuscript. Alternative editors or reviewers will be assigned where necessary to ensure an impartial and independent editorial process.

The Editorial Office may request additional disclosure or clarification from authors, reviewers, or editors whenever a potential conflict could affect the integrity or impartiality of the publication process.

9. Policy Review

This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure consistency with international recommendations and best practices for responsible authorship, contributor transparency, conflict-of-interest disclosure, and ethical scholarly publishing. The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and Therapeutics reserves the right to revise this policy when necessary. Updated versions become effective upon publication on the journal website unless otherwise stated.
