Authorship Change Policy

Introduction

The Journal of Phytochemical Insights (JPCI) recognizes that authorship accurately reflects substantial scholarly contributions to a manuscript. Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after submission must be handled transparently and in accordance with international publication ethics. To protect the integrity of the scientific record, all authorship changes are subject to editorial review and approval.

When Can Authorship Be Changed?

  • ✔ Authorship changes are permitted only before the manuscript is accepted for publication.
  • ✔ Requests should preferably be made during the revision stage before the final editorial decision.
  • ✔ No authorship changes will normally be accepted after the manuscript has been formally accepted.

Addition of an Author

If an author is proposed to be added after the initial submission, the corresponding author must provide:

  • ✔ A detailed explanation for the authorship addition.
  • ✔ A clear description of the new author's scientific contribution.
  • ✔ Written agreement signed by all existing authors.
  • ✔ Written consent from the newly added author.
  • ✔ A completed JPCI Authorship Change Request Form.

Removal of an Author

Requests to remove an author require:

  • ✔ A detailed explanation for removing the author.
  • ✔ Written consent from the author being removed.
  • ✔ Written agreement signed by all remaining authors.
  • ✔ Completion of the official Authorship Change Request Form.

Change in Author Order

Changing the sequence of authors requires:

  • ✔ A written explanation describing the reason for the change.
  • ✔ Signed approval from every listed author.
  • ✔ Editorial approval by the journal.

Required Documents

All authorship change requests must include the following:

  • ✔ Authorship Change Request Form.
  • ✔ Signed declaration from every author.
  • ✔ Updated Author Contribution Statement.
  • ✔ Revised Title Page.
  • ✔ Any additional documents requested by the Editorial Office.

Editorial Evaluation

The Editorial Office may request additional documentation whenever necessary. Submission of a request does not guarantee approval. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to approve or reject any authorship modification based on publication ethics, documentation provided, and editorial assessment.

Requests After Acceptance

Important: After a manuscript has been officially accepted for publication, requests to add, remove, replace, or rearrange authors will not normally be considered. Only in exceptional circumstances involving proven editorial error or ethical concerns will such requests be reviewed. Supporting evidence and approval from the Editor-in-Chief will be required.

False Authorship Requests

Providing false information, forged signatures, or misleading statements regarding authorship constitutes publication misconduct. Such cases may result in immediate rejection of the manuscript, withdrawal of the submission, notification to affiliated institutions, or other editorial actions considered appropriate by the journal.
